Since my very childhood, I have been attracted to the natural beauty specially the night sky. I usually like to go up in my terrace at night and lay down and explore the whole universe through the night sky. Today in this busy world, nobody gets time for such things. But it is worth taking time out of your busy schedule and relax. Gazing at the night sky full of stars, meteors, satellite is one of the ways to relax your mind and body.
At first I thought the night sky is only about stars and different shapes of moon. But gradually with my growing interest in astronomy, I started figuring out meteors (shooting star), meteor showers, nebulas, galaxies etc. I used to wonder how some stars move steadily across the night sky until I realised that they are the satellites and not the stars. Yeah, the very satellites made by man. In night sky, they shine like stars since they consists of large solar panel which reflects enough sunlight to make them visible from earth. If you gaze the night sky carefully for half an hour then you may be able to see the flash of bright light running through the sky that finally fades away. They are the meteors,basically a lump of stone which has already entered the earth's atmosphere. There are irregularly shaped stones and debris in space which are called meteoroides. When the earth pass through them they get attracted by earth's gravitation and enters into the earth's atmosphere. Then due to the friction of air it burns and eventually vanishes into the atmosphere itself. But some stones are simply large enough so they get saved from being completely burnt and finally end up touching the earth surface with a big impact. These are called meteorites. So this is the difference between meteoroides, meteors and meteorites.
Nowadays, there are many types of software that helps you learn more about the night sky. If you have a computer then Stellarium will be the perfect software. If you have a smartphone, then you can download an app GOOGLE SKY MAP.Here you will be able to learn about colourful nebulas too. Nebulas are the colourful clusters of stars and space dust.Although it is really difficult to figure out Nebula but if it is pitch dark and the night sky is clear then with the help of these types of software you can find out some of them. Similarly you can also figure out M31 galaxy(Andromeda galaxy). With Stellarium you will be able to find out the satellite, its timing and its path in the sky.
Then the next thing you can see are the constellations. It is very easy to figure out the constellations in the sky .Basically, constellations are the group are stars. Ancient people named the group of star. These constellations represent unique shapes. For example, Ursa Major(name of a constellation) represents The Great Bear. Some of the constellations are even associated with the zodiac.Besides, there are many other astronomical events like eclipses and comets etc., which can be seen in daytime.
